Olive Hill Greenhouses, Inc. began in Fallbrook, CA in 1973 as Tony & Sue Godfrey's part-time venture with 3,000 sq ft of greenhouse space on two rented acres. While working for others, Tony realized the key to a good quality plant is recognizing what quality should look like and working towards that goal. Specializing in hardier indoor tropical plants with an eye for quality, consistency, and excellent customer service, Tony and Sue were able to expand to 310,000 sq feet during the 1970s foliage boom. Looking to compliment Olive Hill’s foliage line, Tony happened upon Bromeliads in the late 1980s. Bromeliads successfully grew with foliage plants and their potential was realized by the interiorscapers searching for long lasting blooms with outstanding indoor performance. By the mid 1990s Bromeliads became 50% of Olive Hill Greenhouses business and their sales allowed expansion from 420,000 sq ft to 760,000 sq ft by 2000. Seeking other flowering plants with exceptional indoor performance, Olive Hill Greenhouses began growing Anthuriums in the early 2000s. In 2000, Olive Hill Greenhouses became a second generation business with Tony & Sue's daughter Denise joining the sales team.
