Fallbrook, CA – Olive Hill Greenhouses which farms in Northern San Diego County is continuing a long history of supporting local organizations by donating thousands of dollars’ worth of gorgeous Bromeliad and Anthurium plants to the Boys and Girls Club of Fallbrook in honor of Mother’s day a few weeks ago, and to the North County Fire Protection District to thank first responders for their enduring sacrifice.
The multi generation family owned company, has a long history of supporting nonprofits in Northern San Diego County and thought, what a better way to cheer up hundreds of moms in North County than with a beautiful plant on a day that honors them.
“We can see how much this pandemic has affected families and especially the moms in our neighborhood, and we want to provide a token of our gratitude for all they do,” says Denise Godfrey, of Olive Hill Greenhouses. “As a mother of two school aged girls, I know first-hand the efforts being made to not just mom, but in many cases teacher too. We decided as a family it would be a great thing to do because plants last long after the special day is over and plants help create lasting memories. The benefits of indoor plants are many, and we are happy to have been in a position to make the donation.”
The pandemic donation is an extension of ongoing outreach. Olive Hill Greenhouses, their customers, and members of the National Interiorscapers Network have donated tens of thousands of plants to charitable organizations, non-profits and healthcare facilities throughout the region, state and nation. “Plants are always a welcomed gift regardless of the occasion, and especially in challenging times, plants help create a healthy environment and positive outlook,” said Godfrey.
The company teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of Fallbrook and distributed these beautiful plants at a free lunch pick-up at La Paloma Elementary and Maie Ellis Elementary.
In addition to the Mother’s Day gift, the Olive Hill Greenhouses family wanted to thank the firefighter and paramedics at North County Fire Protection District for all they are doing to keep Fallbrook and the surrounding communities safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. “First responders carry a big burden caring for all of us in the community and they deserve a little ray of sunshine in the firehouse and their homes,” said Sue Godfrey (Denise’s mom).
